Google maps element zooming issue with the KEN theme

#1

Problem:
Zooming issue with the Google Maps element and the Google Maps widget in the KEN theme.

WHY?
It seems Google has changed something in the Maps API due to which the Google Maps element is having issues with zooming.

How to solve:

  1. Edit mk_gmaps.php file present in wp-content/themes/ken/shortcodes/.

  2. Go to line 56 and

Replace
wp_enqueue_script('gmaps', '//maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/js?'.$apikey.'ver=1', false, false, false);

With
wp_enqueue_script('gmaps', '//maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/js?'.$apikey.'v=3.1', false, false, false);

  1. Now, edit widgets-gmap.php file present in wp-content/themes/ken/widgets/.

  2. Go to line 85 and

Replace
wp_enqueue_script('gmaps', '//maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/js?'.$apikey.'ver=1', false, false, false);

With
wp_enqueue_script('gmaps', '//maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/js?'.$apikey.'v=3.1', false, false, false);

Purge the plugin cache (If using any cache plugin)
Clear the browser cache.

Permanent Fix:
The permanent fix of this issue will be released in the next update of the KEN theme.
